Competition in the Real Estate Brokerage Industry

This Report presents an overview of the information provided and opinions expressed during a public workshop held in October 2005 to address issues affecting competition in the residential real estate brokerage area. The Report starts by providing background information on the roles brokers and agents play, considers MLS and examines alternative business models. In following sections the Report address competitive structures, commissions, obstacles, impediments, MLS rules and other anticompetitive effects.
