Richard M. Betts (MAI, SRA, and ASA) is a California Certified General Real Estate Appraiser and con¬sultant in Oakland, California, with extensive experience as a fee appraiser, including expert-witness appraisal before various superior courts and assessment appeal boards. He was educated at the UC Berkeley, where he earned a B.S. in Business Administration and an M.B.A. degree in Real Estate. He has taught extensively for Merritt Community College; the University of Cal¬ifornia, Berkeley, Extension Division; AIREA; SREA; and the Appraisal Institute. Betts is also the acting President of REAMUG, the appraisers' computer usage group and co-author of “The Essentials of Real Estate Economics”, published in 2001.
